Educational Ministry

Through Catholic education, donor support continues to transform the lives of our young people. Both dioceses operate early childhood, primary, secondary, and skills-training institutions that foster academic growth, faith, character, and values. Many of our schools also provide daily meals, as families often lack the means to meet basic nutritional needs.

In the wake of hurricane damage, we ask donors to help repair and rebuild schools and to assist with textbooks, supplies, and uniforms. Our Skills Training Centers further equip young people with practical job skills, enabling them to find employment and lift themselves out of poverty.

We believe education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Through bursaries and scholarships, donors help students continue to higher education and support adults pursuing careers in teaching—bringing hope, opportunity, and lasting change to our communities.

Health Care

Across the two dioceses, three health clinics provide essential basic medical care to the poor and vulnerable. The clinic in Maggoty sustained hurricane damage but has since reopened and continues to serve the local community.

The clinic in St. Croix, however, was completely destroyed when it lost its entire roof. The Sisters who staff the clinic have temporarily relocated their services to the small parish church—an arrangement far from ideal, yet necessary, as more than sixty patients rely on this clinic each day. Despite the conditions, the Sisters of the Assumption continue to serve with dedication and compassion.

The third clinic, located at the Cathedral in Montego Bay and staffed by the Franciscan Sisters, survived the storm, though the nearby Bishop’s Office did not. In light of these circumstances, we respectfully invite donors to assist with the rebuilding of the St. Croix Clinic, so that safe and dignified healthcare can once again be provided to those in greatest need.

Our Home for the
Destitute Elderly

Our home for our destitute elderly is in the Diocese of Mandeville, and cares for fifty five people, women and men. It is a very simple home, of course. Many of these elderly persons have, sadly, been abandoned by their families. We found one resident living in the street and bush. We believe that all should have dignity as Children of God. And so, with that may we invite you to consider gifting to help support these precious elders? So many needs, as you have now seen. May we ask for your solidarity with our poor in the hills and bush of Jamaica?
